🐒 Monkey Park Tenerife — The BEST Kid-Friendly Animal Experience (2026 Full PERSONAL EXPERIENCE)

Monkey Park Tenerife

If you’re looking for a relaxed, interactive, and genuinely fun animal day out in Tenerife with kids, Monkey Park delivers in a big way. We recently spent a couple of hours there with our family — kids, in‑laws, snacks and all — and it turned out to be one of the sweetest and most memorable stops of our Tenerife holiday.

Whether you’re coming from Los Cristianos, Costa Adeje, or Playa de las Américas, it’s an easy 10–15 minute drive and absolutely worth fitting into your itinerary.

🐵 What Monkey Park Tenerife Is

Monkey Park isn’t a massive zoo like Loro Parque — rather, it’s a small, intimate animal park focused on primates and smaller creatures where you can get closer to the animals than you might expect. monkeypark.com

🎯 Highlights

  • Interactive and hands‑on: Kids can feed and sometimes touch animals in designated areas.

  • Great for a 1–2 hour visit: Not overwhelming, perfect for little legs and short attention spans.

  • Affordable: Around €10 for adults and €5 for kids (under 5 go free).

  • Varied animal collection: Lemurs, monkeys, parrots, guinea pigs, tortoises, reptiles and more.

🐒 Our Family Experience

We arrived right at opening — 9:30 am — which was a brilliant call. Animals were active, curious, and keen to check us out before it got busier later in the morning.

🌿 First Impressions

Walking in, you’re greeted by the cutest crowd of friendly guinea pigs and lemurs, nibbling happily on food from our hands. The kids absolutely loved being able to interact (and giggle) as creatures ambled right up to them.

There’s a gentle route around the park, so even toddlers and buggies had no problems navigating the paths. It wasn’t overwhelming — a perfect first animal park for younger children.

🐾 Best Bits for Kids

👍 Close‑Up Animal Encounters

  • Feed lemurs and monkeys with special food bought at the entrance. Don’t bring your own — they enforce this to keep the animals healthy. monkeypark.com

  • Hundreds of friendly guinea pigs love a veggie treat, and kids can stroke and feed them right in the enclosure.

  • Spot tortoises, exotic birds, crocodiles, and colourful parrots.

Tip: Buy 2–3 tubs of food if you want to feed everything — if you give all your food to the guinea pigs first, you might miss feeding the lemurs later!

📅 How Long to Plan

Most families spend 1.5–2 hours here — enough to explore, feed animals, take photos, and relax in shaded spots. If you’re combining with a beach day or a seaside lunch, it slots in beautifully for a half‑day experience.

🧠 Handy Tips for Visiting

🕤 Visit Early

Early morning ➜ animals are active and keen to interact. Later in the day, they can get sleepy and busy.

🐾 Food for Animals

You can buy food at the park (usually around €3 per box), and this is what you use to feed the critters — absolutely worth it for the engagement you get.

🚗 Getting There

  • Taxi or car is easiest — there’s space outside the park to park.

  • Bus isn’t direct, so if you’re relying on public transport be ready for a short walk afterwards.

🍦 Snacks & Drinks

Small snacks and drinks are available on site — perfect for a breather after animal time.

🎉 Why It’s Amazing for Kids

Interactive, not just watching: Kids love being in with the animals, not just peering through bars.
Not too big or tiring: Easy to enjoy without nap‑time meltdowns.
Affordable and flexible: Great value if you’re doing a few days in Tenerife.
Loads of photo moments: Little faces with lemurs? Priceless!

🐾 Final Thoughts

Monkey Park Tenerife may not be a giant zoo, but it is one of the most memorable, kid‑friendly animal experiences on the island. It’s a relaxed, hands‑on, and really fun way to teach kids about animals, give them that special up‑close interaction, and create memories that beat another beach picture any day.

If your Tenerife plans include family time, playful experiences and animal magic — Monkey Park should definitely be on your list! 🐵❤️
