Playa de La Pinta (Puerto Colon Beach)

La Pinta Beach Costa Adeje
La Pinta Beach with the Family

Playa La Pinta is a long beach situated in the Puerto Colon area of Costa Adeje.
It has golden sand and crystal clear waters, making it a great spot for swimming and sunbathing.
The beach also has an array of facilities, from restaurants to water sports rentals.

There is a bouncy castle in the water that you can pay to use.

You will find a lot of people come here to enjoy a variety of water sports like, scuba diving and jet skies.

There are plenty of bars and entertainment next to the beach, as this area is a bit of a hub. From the Sky Bar to Odissa, there is plenty for everyone.

The beach is over looked by the La Pinta apartments which is our favourite. It is also straight across from some great breakfast restaurants. In my opinion this makes it one of the best beaches in Tenerife.

Playa Del Bobo
Playa De el Bobo

Playa de el Bobo is a small beach in a cove at the foot of Bouganville hotel.

It has natural dark sand, and very picturesque.

The water is shallow and so you can swim near the rock part of the beach.

Not many sunbeds so if you require one I would get there early.

Best Beaches at Costa Adeje

Costa Adeje has some of the best beaches in Tenerife and have something for everyone and every event. Below is my recommendations for best beach for certain outings.

Best Beach in Costa Adeje for Swimming

Though several beaches in Costa Adeje offer excellent swimming conditions, Playa del Duque stands out as the best for this activity.

The calm and clear waters of Playa del Duque, combined with the presence of lifeguards, make it an ideal and safe spot for swimmers of all levels.

The warm temperature of the water also adds to the enjoyable swimming experience.

Therefore, for those who love to swim during their beach visits, Playa del Duque should be their first choice in Costa Adeje.

Best Beach in Costa Adeje for Toddlers

Playa de Torviscas gets my vote.

The beach has gentle waves and shallow waters, making it ideal for toddlers who want to splash in the water without having to worry about being dragged out by a strong current.

Moreover, there are plenty of amenities such as sun loungers and umbrellas located near the beach, so parents can relax while their children play on the sand.

As mentioned earlier in the blog, there is a soft play, McDonalds and public toilets all next to this beach.

Best Beach in Costa Adeje for Snorkeling

Best beach in Costa Adeje for snorkeling i would say is Playa del Duque or La Pinta.

Both are calm and have clear waters which make it an ideal spot for snorkeling, as the visibility underwater is excellent.

Moreover, you can explore a wide variety of marine life such as different types of fish and octopuses that live in these waters.

However El Puertito is a small cove located in the south of Costa Adeje. It is known for its clear waters and abundance of marine life, including turtles, fish, and rays.

Best Beach in Costa Adeje for Couples

Best beach in Costa Adeje for couples would be Playa del Duque or La Pinta. Both beaches have golden sand and crystal clear waters, which makes them ideal for romantic strolls along the shoreline.

The picturesque sunsets are also a plus, as they provide the perfect backdrop for couples to enjoy each other’s company in this beautiful environment.

Furthermore, if you want to take things up a notch, you can also find plenty of restaurants and bars located near the beach.

All in all, Playa del Duque or La Pinta are great options for couples looking to enjoy a romantic day at the beach.

The main difference between the 2 is that del Duque seems to be more of an up market area.

Best Beach in Costa Adeje for Families

Best beach for families in Costa Adeje, mention toilets and restaurants and sun beds.

Playa de Torviscas is my pick for the best beach in Costa Adeje for families.

The beach has calm waters, making it a safe spot for children to splash around and have fun.

Moreover, there are plenty of facilities available nearby such as sunbeds, umbrellas and public toilets.

Additionally, there are several restaurants and bars near the beach where you can get a bite to eat. So if you’re looking for a fun day out with the family, Playa de Torviscas is the perfect spot!

On top of all that, there’s also a soft play and McDonalds near by which are sure to keep the kids entertained for hours.

McDonalds at Torviscus Beach
McDonalds at Torviscus Beach

With all these things in one place, it’s no wonder it’s a favourite among families.

Where is Costa Adeje Beaches

Costa Adeje is located to the west of Playa De Las Americas and Los Cristianos. The two resorts are separated by the Barranco del Rey ravine.

It is also about 3km south of La Caleta which hosts some amazing seafood restaurants.

The three resorts are essentially one long stretch of coastline, with Costa Adeje being the more upscale and upmarket of them.

My Final Thought

Costa Adeje Tenerife Spain has several great beaches that offer something for everyone.

They also have a few smaller ones that i’ve not mentioned as we have not been to them, so it may be worth a visit to playa de la enramada and playa de troya.

From swimming and snorkeling to sunbathing and family fun, this beautiful area of Tenerife has it all!

So whatever your plans are, you’re sure to find the perfect beach here in Costa Adeje.

I have been coming here for years with my family of 4 and friends and we love all the beaches mentioned here in the south west of the island.

Quiet times Costa Adeje Market
Quiet times Costa Adeje Market

We have been twice, the first time when we went there we were a bit nieve and turned up about 12. Don’t go at that time it just gets far too busy and hot.

The second time we went for 9 o’clock on a Sunday morning, it was still very hot but not as bad and it was a lot easier to get around.

Unlike most markets I’ve been to you don’t really seem to be able to haggle with the traders, I tried a few times and was unsuccessful every time.

Always bear in mind there can be a few pickpockets at it, we never noticed any but we were told be other folk we met on holiday to carry your valuables in your front pockets.

They can be a great place to pick up some unique souvenirs, or just explore the hustle and bustle of a vibrant local market.

My Thoughts on the Market

Overall, the markets of Costa Adeje are a great way to experience some local culture and shop for unique items.

The prices are generally very reasonable, which is nice if you’re on a budget.

It’s not somewhere I would spend all day at but my wife would beg to differ.

It is also something different for the kids to see away from swimming pools and the beach, and you can treat them to something nice without having to pay a fortune.

I would recommend the market to anyone wanting an authentic and memorable experience. Just remember to wear comfortable shoes as you will be on your feet for a long time and bring some cash, as not all vendors accept cards.

If you are looking for other family days out in Costa Adeje why don’t you consider visiting Aqualand which is located in the center of Costa Adeje.

We were told there was a free bus service but we couldn’t find it.

Our experience was going with 2 young children (3 and 6) so we mainly stuck to the more timid rides and things to do.

Find out more and similar experiences in our Things to do in Costa Adeje for Families blog.

What is the main differences between Aqualand and Siam Park?

Aqualand and Siam Park are both popular water parks in Tenerife, Canary Islands.

They both offer thrilling slides suitable for all ages, as well as a wide range of entertainment options such as lazy rivers and wave pools.

However, one of the key differences between the two is that Aqualand Costa Adeje is more family-oriented, whereas Siam Park has a wider range of extreme rides and attractions for thrill seekers.

Additionally, Aqualand Costa Adeje offers various shows and activities all throughout the day, while Siam Park focuses more on its intense attractions.

Both parks provide an unforgettable experience for visitors of any age.

During a busy summer period from June to October 10:00 until 17:00 Gates are open. It closes about 30 minutes before it closes. Dolphin shows. Hours: 15:30 each day.

Family Fun Day in Costa Adeje Aqualand

Our day started by turning up when it opened. We brought a packed lunch for the kids, as they are fussy eaters, like most children, and we intended to eat in the restaurant.

Our first stop was the lazy river:

Lava Rver Costa Adeje Aqualand
Lava Rver Aqualand

Lazy River (Lava River)

  • The Lazy River is a great option for families with younger children.
  • There is no height or age restriction for the lazy river in Aqualand Costa Adeje. This makes it a great option for people of all ages, including toddlers.
  • It is a slow-moving river that takes visitors on an inner tube ride around the park.
  • The Lazy River is perfect for those looking to relax and enjoy some time in the sun without having to worry about intense rides or water slides.
  • This makes it ideal for smaller kids as they do not need to worry about any of the faster or more intense rides. However i would still recommend bringing a life jacket for very young children, just for peace of mind.

After the lazy river we went in to the children’s pool:

Kids Pool Costa Adeje Aqualand
Kids Pool Aqualand

Children’s Pool

  • This pool is shallow and has a variety of water features for children to play on. It is very shallow and has small slides for babies and toddlers which was heated.

This was great as we could sit at the side and watch them playing. Although my oldest was 6 she still had a great time in there.

Once the children were happy to move on we would walk around the park for a bit, well my youngest demanded carrying.

If you have a buggy on holiday with you I would definitely recommend you take it to Aqualand as you can end up doing a lot of walking, also when leaving the park you may be tempted to walk back, depending on where you were going as the taxi queue can sometimes take up to an hour.

Next was lunch where you can sit inside out of the sun or out on the terrace. The food is reasonably priced. I had a Pizza slice for 5 Euros and Diet Pepsi for 3 Euros and the girls ate their packed lunch (we’ll for the purpose of this blog I’ll say the ate their lunch :)).

Next up was the wave pool, this is what the kids were excited all holiday about playing in and it did not disappoint. Since the pool is like a beach and has a gradual incline, they were able to stand where they felt safe and enjoyed jumping in to the waves.

Wave Pool Costa Adeje Aqualand
Wave Pool Aqualand

Wave Pool

  • The Wave Pool is a great option for those looking to have a bit of fun in the water.
  • The pool features waves at the deepest area are just high enough for body surfing(1.80 meters), making it perfect for people of all ages.
  • The wave machine runs every hour and is gentle enough that even young children can enjoy getting caught up in the surf.

We finished the day off by watching the Dolphin Show which starts at 15:30 every day.

Dolphin Show Costa Adeje Aqualand
Dolphin Show Costa Adeje Aqualand

The Dolphin Show

  • It is a 30-minute presentation of dolphins, sea lions, and parrots.
  • The dolphins perform a variety of tricks, such as jumping through hoops, balancing balls on their noses, and playing soccer.
  • The sea lions do tricks like somersaults and handstands, and the parrots fly around the arena and talk.
  • For more info take a look at their webpage: https://www.aqualand.es/costa-adeje/en/dolphinarium/

Once that had finished the kids were starting to get restless so we walked back to our hotel.

It was La Pinta, just off La Pinta beach. The walk took about 25 minutes so not to bad, apart from I had to carry Emily.

Can you swim with dolphins at Aqualand Costa Adeje?

This park contains Dolphin Planet, where visitors will learn about dolphin species and other creatures, but unfortunately you can’t swim with them.

What age is Aqualand Tenerife for?

In our opinion it is for all ages, it has more family friendly and young kids things to do than Siam park, but still has plenty of adrenaline rides for those who dare it.

Final word on Costa Adeje Aqualand

Aqualand Costa Adeje is a great destination for families looking to spend a day in the sun and have some fun.

It offers something for everyone, from adrenaline-pumping rides to gentle water slides and pools.

It has plenty of attractions that will keep kids busy all day long – no matter their age.

Whether you’re looking for thrills or relaxation, Aqualand Costa Adeje is the ideal destination.

With a wide range of attractions and something for all age groups, this park is sure to make your day one to remember!

Already my kids are asking when we are going back and that they will go on some of the bigger ones next time (we’ll see).

What I would say is plan your day, go on to their website and have a look at the map and plan your day round that. If planned well you can have a very enjoyable and relaxing trip.

Why not finish your day off by visiting one of our recommended restaurants or giving the Costa Adeje Market a go.

Costa Adeje Sports Bars

Costa Adeje Sports Bars

The first thing I like to do when arriving in Costa Adeje is find my perfect sports bar, so i can keep up to date with the latest football while enjoying a chilled pint.

With a number of bars dotted across the locale, it’s the ideal spot to kick back with a pint and immerse yourself in the captivating world of sports. Whether you’re a football enthusiast, a rugby fan, or a cricket aficionado, these sports bars cater to all preferences, broadcasting a multitude of games live.

Immerse in the vibrant atmosphere, engage in friendly banter, and take in the picturesque views of Costa Adeje.

It’s more than just a place; it’s an experience that combines relaxation, sport, and camaraderie in one dynamic environment.

Skybar Costa Adeje

Skybar Tenerife is a great place to watch football in Costa Adeje, in the heart of the Puerto Colon area across from the beautiful La Pinta beach.

The Sky Bar shows live sports, including football, rugby, and basketball.

  Sky Bar Atmosphere

The atmosphere is lively and friendly, and the staff are always happy to help you find a seat.

They also have a good selection of beers, cocktails, and food.

It has 13 widescreen TVs inside, and 2 large screens outside. So you can either enjoy the sun on the terrace and take in a match or if you need out of the sun for a bit there are plenty of screens inside.

View from the skybar

What I would recommend is that you get there early as it can get busy, especially if there is a big match on.

Below is what i really like about the pub as this is my go to sports bar

  • Large number of TVs showing live sports
  • Lively and friendly atmosphere
  • Helpful staff
  • Good selection of beers, cocktails, and food
  • Rooftop terrace with views of the ocean

The Skybar also does lightly entertainment, mainly tribute acts.

It’s the perfect place to spend an evening with friends or family, and get your sports fix while you’re at it!

Winchester Sports Bar

This is one that I had to visit as when ever you look on reviews for sports bars in the Costa Adeje area this one comes up a lot, all with very positive reviews.

Winchester Sports Bar
The Winchester Sports Bar

So for my first visit I wasn’t disappointed there are about 10 screens, most were showing all the sports channels, I think a couple had music channels on.

The atmosphere is very laid back and friendly but can also be buzzing on a match day.

Winchester Sports Bar Costa Adeje

There are a mix of Irish & British that come to watch the football and have a few chilled pints at a reasonable cost.

It ranged from groups of men to some families.

I was really impressed with the fantastic home made food, it ranged from wraps, burgers to main meals, and the portion size was pretty good.

On a Sunday they will do a roast dinner, but i would recommend you book a table first.

All in all i would say its a great venue to visit for the football or just a group of friends who want to chill and have some food, and i’ll definitely be back.

Amalfi Restaurant

We have chosen the best restaurant in Costa Adeje to be Amalfi. So I’ll go over why we think this.

Amalfi Restaurant in Costa Adeje has effortlessly stolen the top spot as the best of the best restaurants in Costa Adeje.

It’s a combination of factors that make it truly unbeatable.

First and foremost, the food is the real deal. Authentic Italian dishes bursting with flavor take center stage.

3 Hidden Gems in Costa Adeje

Costa Adeje has surprised me with some hidden gems!
I wanted to share 3 of my favorites with you:

First if you are looking for some entertainment including a game of Bingo, The mellow Gecko could be exactly what you are after.

Second, to meet fellow travelers, Heads & Tails Bar offers a welcoming atmosphere and social gatherings.

And finally, Lily’s English Tea Terrace is a delightful spot for breakfast or afternoon tea, with cakes and scones that are simply divine.

Mellow Gecko: Bingo

Mellow Gecko Costa Adeje

We stumbled upon a hidden gem in Costa Adeje last time we were here – The Mellow Gecko!

This little bar is more than just your average bar.

Fancy a fun night out with a chance to win some prizes, look no further!

They have bingo and games happening Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sundays, starting at 3pm.

We were lucky enough to catch Paddy’s act on a Wednesday. Let me tell you, this guy is a comedian!

We haven’t laughed that hard in ages. Apparently, Gary takes over the hosting duties on other days, but everyone seems to rave about the atmosphere.

The staff, including the owner Adam, were incredibly welcoming. We tried their white sangria, and it was absolutely delicious! They also have fantastic cocktails, with a great 2-for-€10 deal.

The Mellow Gecko is so popular for bingo that they recommend booking a spot in advance.

It’s a great place to meet new people (as the in-laws did), both locals and visitors.  They also have fantastic food, so you can make a whole evening of it.

Heads & Tails

Heads & Tails Bar Costa Adeje

Head and tails is well known for solo travelers to meet up.

This hidden gem has become famous for its welcoming atmosphere, making it the perfect spot to meet fellow adventurers.

Whether you’re on holiday or a resident, Heads & Tails offers a chance to connect with others over a drink and share travel stories.

Every Wednesday at 2pm, the bar hosts a social group meet-up, specifically designed to help solo travelers mingle.

Look for the upturned wine glass on a table, or simply ask the friendly staff to point you in the right direction. But the fun doesn’t stop there – Heads & Tails is also a sports fanatic’s paradise.

With a whopping seven screens, you’re guaranteed to catch all the action, no matter your favorite sport.

So, grab a drink, cheer on your team, and make some new friends at the Heads & Tails Bar!

Lily’s English tea Terrace

Lily's Afternoon Tea Costa Adeje

This charming spot isn’t just about a cuppa and a biscuit, though they certainly excel in that department.

They’re renowned for their mouthwatering breakfasts, a symphony of freshly prepared ingredients that will set you up perfectly for a day of exploring Tenerife.

From fluffy omelets to perfectly cooked sausages, Lily’s full English breakfast is a local favorite.

But the magic doesn’t stop there. Lily’s is a haven for sweet tooths as well. Their homemade cakes and scones are legendary, praised by visitors and locals alike. Imagine warm scones, melting in your mouth, or a slice of cake so good it’s “to die for,” as one reviewer put it.

Whether you have a craving for a classic Victoria sponge or something more adventurous, Lily’s bakers have something to tantalize your taste buds.

So next time you’re in Costa Adeje, pop into Lily’s English Tea Terrace. Enjoy a delicious breakfast, and treat yourself to one of their heavenly cakes and scones, or perhaps to a full afternoon tea experience. With its friendly staff and charming atmosphere, Lily’s is a guaranteed delight.

Final word

All these restaurants offer something completely different, from Scotch Corner and McGuire’s serving up a traditional British and Irish meal to a once-in-a-lifetime experience of teppanyaki at Miishi.

All the restaurants in this blog are my and my wife’s favourite restaurants.

As we have been coming here almost every year for the last 10 we have eaten in several. That’s not to say there aren’t ones we haven’t heard of or come across equally as good. I’m sure there are plenty of local restaurants that we have still to try out.

Our top restaurants also features in our Things to do in Costa Adeje blog.

For those who fancy venturing out a bit there are some great restaurants in Playa de las Americas and Los Cristianos, or even further to La Caleta where they have a fantastic seafood restaurant called La Vieja.
